Will uses oral storytelling, ritual and facilitated experiences to apply a mythic lens to life, exploring wisdom and strengthening our capacity for Wise Action.
Wise Action is the combination of how we respond to the world and how we participate in our lives through our actions.
Storytelling: The encounter
Will creates an atmosphere of beauty and humour, where you can expect to laugh, think and cry, storytelling is more than entertainment it is the mode of transferring wisdom. Wisdom is not knowledge it is not acquisition of facts it is action, how we respond and how we attune ourselves with the world.
Study: The Inquiry
Studying our encounters with storytelling, is building capacity to apply a mythological lens to life. Mythology requires our attention, to look at examine and how we draw connections between things which is the cultivation of wisdom.
Wise Action
Is the integration of encounter and inquiry. It is the movement of insight into lived experience—how we respond, act and orient ourselves in the world. It is where the wisdom of the old stories becomes embodied as a way of living.
Great Southern Men have been running Men's weekends for the last 7 years or so. In 2025 we were lucky enough to have Will bring the great Celtic wonder tale Tristan and Isolde to our annual event.
Whilst we have always had a storytelling presence at the event, Will took this to the next level and has forever raised the bar on what storytelling can bring.
Will is a world-class storyteller who has honed his considerable craft with some of the best storytellers in the English-speaking world.
Will is steeped in the mytho-poetic tradition and his broad affinity with the mythological realm sets him apart as a storyteller When Will tells a story you are not just visiting an old tale, you are stepping across the imagional threshold into the rich mythological realm from which the human mind has emerged.
Blending a broad overview of the great mythological cycles with an exquisite attention to the small details in the story, Will offers a generous and intimate engagement with his audience that will leave you spell bound and transformed.
As a word of caution, in following Will into the realm of story you will be stepping across an important threshold, leaving the day-to-day of village life behind and entering the mystery of the wild that lies just beyond ordinary perception. You will be plunged into the old tales and an adventure that will, of course, leave you forever changed!
